Stronger together
We work with partners who share our mission to promote, support and develop the people who work in wood – from first day of training to the top of the trade.
Working side by side

National Association of Shopfitters
Since 2023, the Institute has been in a strategic partnership with the National Association of Shopfitters (NAS). We share a mission to promote, support and develop our members, with a shared team working for the benefit of our collective membership.

Wood/Work
In 2025 the IOC and NAS launched Wood/Work, an in-work support programme for people taking their first steps in the wood occupations. Wood/Work is funded by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB).
Together as WOMA
The IOC and NAS work together under the WOMA banner – bringing craftspeople and businesses together, including through the WOMA Academy, our shared eLearning platform.
Connected across the sector
We also work closely with organisations across construction, skills and the timber industry.
The Worshipful Company of Carpenters
The Institute was founded in 1890 by craftsmen who passed the Company’s first-class examinations, and we keep strong links today.
CITB
Partners on the Mentoring Champions initiative and funder of the Wood/Work programme.
Skills England
We contribute to the Trailblazer Apprenticeship for Carpentry and Joinery.
Timber Construction Europe
We are the UK Commission for Timber Construction Europe.
Reach the people who work in wood
We welcome conversations with organisations that share our commitment to skills, standards and the future of the craft.
- Support the next generation of carpenters and joiners
- Connect with members from Student to Fellow
- Work with colleges, employers and industry bodies
