Celebrating the 2025 Wood Awards Winners

Institute of Carpenters Posted on 20/11/2025 by Joe Harris20/11/2025

The 2025 Wood Awards have revealed their winners, showcasing the best in timber architecture, design, and craftsmanship across the UK. This annual competition highlights outstanding buildings, furniture, and products, demonstrating innovative, sustainable, and beautifully executed wood projects.

The Gold Award was won by the Urban Nature Project at the Natural History Museum, designed by Feilden Fowles. Combining sustainable timber and stone, this landscape-led development transforms underused gardens into educational and public spaces while celebrating low-carbon construction and local craftsmanship. Jim Greaves of Hopkins Architects praised the project for its environmental sensitivity, elegant timber detailing, and harmonious integration with the historic museum.

Other notable winners included Chowdhury Walk, The Armadillo, Pine Heath, The Cowshed, and in furniture and objects, projects such as A Forest Datum, Levity Collection, Red Knot, The Growth Project, and Her Captain’s Chair. Sustainability and structural innovation were also recognised, with awards for New Wave House and Paradise.

A competition founded by former IOC President Terence Mallinson in the early 1970’s, the Wood Awards are run by reciprocal IOC members AHEC and Timber Development UK, with support from our linked livery company, The Worshipful Company of Carpenters. IOC Presidents have attended the Awards on numerous occasions, and the projects celebrated each year provide excellent examples of best practice.
