Strategic Partnership: The Institute of Carpenters & Passivhaus Trust
The Institute of Carpenters (IOC) is delighted to announce a new strategic partnership with the Passivhaus Trust (PHT). This agreement aims to maximise collaborative opportunities by sharing knowledge, skills, and capabilities to facilitate our mutual goals and objectives.

Our Joint Mission
Together, we will explore and develop opportunities to work cooperatively in pursuit of transformational change in the built environment. By focusing on the Passivhaus methodology and standards, we aim to drive a radical improvement in the sustainability and quality of the UK’s built environment.
“Over several years, it has been a focused policy of us all at the Institute of Carpenters (IOC) to bring together organisations from across the wide-ranging spectrum of specialists, linked to the timber trade to join us on a reciprocal and cooperative membership basis. We are delighted to now have this latest arrangement in place, with the purpose of this strategic partnership agreement being to support ongoing cooperation between the IOC and the Passivhaus Trust (PHT), as we together work towards building a long-term partnership between us.”
Geoff Rhodes, Immediate Past President, Institute of Carpenters
“The Passivhaus Trust’s future development strategy is all about the value and significance of other organisations in the education and professional environments. Our partnership with the IOC bridges both areas, and we look forward to promoting joint missions, educating and sharing resource and working towards a more united alliance around the quality agenda in the built environment and supporting the next generation of makers.”
