A NAS and IOC members call to action from Amanda Scott UK Skills Lead and Chair of the National Occupational Standards for Wood Occupations.
Last year CITB ran an all-nations survey to determine what skills the Site Carpentry sector considered should be mandatory expectations for a competent first fix installer. The results from the survey were used to inform the National Working Group reviewing the National Occupational Standard (NOS) COSVR09 Install First Fixing Components.
The installation of staircases received an overwhelming 84% vote in favour of being a mandatory requirement, so the National Working Group now needs to define the specific details and types of staircases that should be incorporated in the NOS to define competence. To help inform this definition we and the CITB are once again conducting an all-nations survey to collate industry wide opinion.
Please can we ask for your assistance by completing this very short survey. You will be asked one question regarding the requirements for the type of staircase that should be installed to demonstrate competence. Please click on the link below to access the survey:

The survey will close on 30th April.
Thank you for helping to define the future expectations of Site Carpentry first fix installers.
