The 8th Institute of Carpenters and CITB collaboration took place on Thursday 14 November at Stafford College.
Stafford College hosted the latest Timber Industry College Hub as part of the CITB-IOC Mentoring Champions’ Scheme.
The event began with an opening speech from Len Tildsley, Campus Director to an audience of enthusiastic students, apprentices, IOC members and staff from across the region.
Informative presentations followed from a number of interested parties including IOC President Geoff Rhodes, CITB regional expert Patricia Hicks, Stephen King from Timber Development UK , Roly Ward from MEDITE SMARTPLY, Neil Summers from American Hardwood, Joseph Tong from Historic England and AJ Philpotts and Sons.
The event ended with a networking session led by Lucy Kamall, the IOC Mentoring Champions’ Project Manager.
The speakers were then all given a tour of the new carpentry , joinery and woodworking facilities.
