Do you remember who or what motivated you to become a carpenter or joiner? Was it a family member, a friend, or someone you knew? For many young people without the right role models or contacts, it can be especially difficult to decide what they want to do in life.
Speakers for Schools is a social mobility charity that offers young people from less privileged backgrounds opportunities to learn about a range of careers first-hand. Since our launch in 2010, we have helped over 1.3 million young people to discover careers they may otherwise not have known about or considered as options for themselves.
We work with over 1,200 employers throughout the UK to provide virtual and in-person work experience opportunities and we are particularly keen to encourage more young people from state schools and colleges to consider pursuing a career in a skilled trade like carpentry or joinery.
If you would like to work with us and help more young people aged 14-19 to find out about your trade, we would love to hear from you.
