Institute of Carpenters teams up with TRADA and TTF

Posted: Jan 21, 2019

We are delighted to announce that we have recently welcomed The Timber Research and Development Association(www.trada.co.uk) and the Timber Trade Federation (www.ttf.co.uk) to our membership.

TRADA (The Timber Research and Development Association) is an international membership organisation dedicated to inspiring and informing best practice design, specification and use of wood in the built environment and related fields.

Rupert Scott, Marketing and Membership Manager at TRADA said “TRADA is delighted to be collaborating with the IOC. Carpentry continues to be an important part of the wood industry and we look forward to working closely with the team at the IOC and providing relevant technical information to them”.

For over 125 years, members of the Timber Trade Federation (TTF) have been supplying the carpentry and joinery sectors with timber and wood products from around the world. The Federation is now the UK’s foremost membership body for the timber supply chain. Its Responsible Purchasing Policy, to which all members must adhere, is recognised for the rigorous due diligence of its annual reporting system. The Federation continues to improve its members’ standards, most recently on imported plywood and preservative-treated timber, ensuring that IOC members and others throughout the wood supply chain are purchasing “Timber you can Trust”.

TTF members encompass timber importers, merchants, agents and manufacturers of wood products and account for around two-thirds of the £10 billion UK timber industry. The Federation aims to bring together those who use our products with those who produce and provide them, ensuring that we work as a team to promote the use of the sustainable, renewable material which binds us all.

David Hopkins, Managing Director of the TTF commented: “We are particularly pleased to be working with members of the IOC, whose work represents the public face of the timber supply chain. Our members strive to provide not simply Timber you can Trust, but also knowledge and advice enabling IOC members to make the most of the full range of sustainably grown wood available today.”
